Was there truly a purpose for this article? I found myself beginning to scroll more than I did read, pausing periodically to see if things had changed only to sadly see that it hadn't. But when I got to the end, I had to ask myself, "But who's the fool?"
And...all of this evolved in to the insanely funny Adult Swim series Aqua Teen Hunger Force. That brilliant show took animated junk food (as well as Doctors of many things, including teeth) in directions we may have never wanted to go. But very, very funny. (IMHO)
I can't speak for "the youth" but I can say that my experience with various Burger King mascots is pretty different than what you're describing. One of my mom's favorite stories to tell is how much I loved the 70's Burger King commercials as a toddler and I even have a vague memory (maybe fake) of seeing them play tennis. She says I would stop in my tracks whenever they came on and watched with rapt attention until they were done. I can also say that the Burger King Kids Club was a big hit later on throughout my various schools (more ironically as we got older, but still) and something that got used as a fun "Hey, remember?" reference all the way up into college. Jaws from the BKKC was even a recurring character on a college radio show we did.
Now... if I remember correctly, Grimace is supposed to be a taste bud. Also, he originally had four arms, if I'm not mistaken.
